> Plant-pollinator interactions are recognized for their key role in ecosystem functioning and sustainable agriculture. However, plant-pollinator data are currently stored in silos across multiple networks and country-specific initiatives. The capacity to integrate those data at regional and global levels is crucial to enable pattern analysis and understanding at biologically-relevant scales. In this context, adoption of community data standards on pollination and good practices is urgently needed.
> This case study will ensure broad participation and alignment with other agricultural data initiatives in Europe and at the global level to facilitate the implementation of the FAIR data principles. A survey of existing initiatives handling plant-pollinator interaction data will be conducted and an overview of the current status of best practices for plant-pollinator data management will be provided and discussed within the community for improvement. FAIR data assessment rubrics will be adapted for the plant-pollinator domain, to be accompanied by guidelines for their use. At least five agriculture-specific plant-pollination initiatives will serve as pilots for data and digital objects standards adoption. The RDA Community of Practice on Improving Global Agricultural Data (IGAD) <https://worldfair-project.us13.list-manage.com/track/click?u=232d062cde2fc6e2aae0c242c&id=d9690c4127&e=5ee5d09511> is leading this effort together with partners in the Biodiversity Information Standards group <https://worldfair-project.us13.list-manage.com/track/click?u=232d062cde2fc6e2aae0c242c&id=85197a4986&e=5ee5d09511> already involved with developing standards for plant-pollination data in order to advance adoption.
> Work Package 10 will present their first deliverable 'Agriculture-related pollinator data standards use cases report <https://worldfair-project.us13.list-manage.com/track/click?u=232d062cde2fc6e2aae0c242c&id=6d7b005d79&e=5ee5d09511>' on September 13 alongside the Work Package on Biodiversity <https://worldfair-project.us13.list-manage.com/track/click?u=232d062cde2fc6e2aae0c242c&id=8b15f98fd6&e=5ee5d09511>. > Project Outputs
> Agriculture-related pollinator data standards use cases report (Deliverable 10.1)
> Although pollination is an essential ecosystem service that sustains life on Earth, data on this vital process is largely scattered or unavailable, limiting our understanding of the current state of pollinators and hindering effective actions for their conservation and sustainable management. In addition to the well-known challenges of biodiversity data management, such as taxonomic accuracy, the recording of biotic interactions like pollination presents further difficulties in proper representation and sharing.
> This deliverable presents an overview of projects, good practices, tools, and examples for creating, managing and sharing data related to plant-pollinator interactions, along with a work plan for conducting pilots in the next phase of the project. The full report is available on Zenodo <https://worldfair-project.us13.list-manage.com/track/click?u=232d062cde2fc6e2aae0c242c&id=3812a421de&e=5ee5d09511>.
> This deliverable will be presented on the 20th of September in a webinar part of 'The WorldFAIR Webinar Series: Presenting Project Outputs <https://worldfair-project.us13.list-manage.com/track/click?u=232d062cde2fc6e2aae0c242c&id=b4337327d3&e=5ee5d09511>'. > Disaster Risk Reduction Domain-specific FAIR vocabularies (Deliverable 12.2)
> Disasters are inherently complex with wide-ranging and cascading impacts. The exponential growth in data generated daily, coupled with the complex nature of disasters, means we are hitting the limits of humans’ capacity to fully exploit all the data available for disaster risk reduction (DRR). This can be addressed with well-designed, pretrained Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms. Nations possessing ample resources and technical proficiency are better positioned to leverage DRR data effectively. Recent advances in technology provide an opportunity to reduce DRR data gaps.
> This deliverable explores the use of vocabularies in the DRR domain and how controlled vocabularies coupled with ontologies can enhance the semantic value of DRR data thereby improving interoperability. Enhancing semantic interoperability would result in improved collaboration and communication within the DRR domain and facilitate collaborations with other scientific domains. The final sections of this report provide examples of the use of remote sensing data and AI for DRR. The report is available on Zenodo <https://worldfair-project.us13.list-manage.com/track/click?u=232d062cde2fc6e2aae0c242c&id=b8192bbdc0&e=5ee5d09511>.
> This deliverable will be presented on the 15th of November in a webinar part of 'The WorldFAIR Webinar Series: Presenting Project Outputs <https://worldfair-project.us13.list-manage.com/track/click?u=232d062cde2fc6e2aae0c242c&id=e28afd3c57&e=5ee5d09511>'.
