The Open Data Cube project has been accepted into the OSGeo Community <br>
program.<br>
<br>
The Open Source Geospatial Foundation is pleased to welcome the Open <br>
Data Cube project [1] to our OSGeo Community program. The Open Data Cube <br>
project is an open source geospatial data management and analysis <br>
software project that helps harness the power of satellite data.<br>
<br>
The OSGeo Community program recognizes applications and tools that are <br>
geospatial, freely available with an open source license, and are setup <br>
to collaborate fairly. This program helps OSGeo promote innovation and <br>
the hard work of teams and organizations world-wide. “Thanks to the Open <br>
Data Cube team for answering our questions, this is a really well <br>
organized project and it is a pleasure to welcome the team to OSGeo. <br>
Thanks to Bruce Bannerman and the incubation committee for moving this <br>
forward!”, says OSGeo Incubation Chair Jody Garnett.<br>

The Open Data Cube project addresses a growing domain for Earth <br>
observation data exploitation platforms, increasing the usage and value <br>
of satellite data, as well as providing tooling for the efficient data <br>
preparation, access, and analysis of EO data. “The Open Data Cube has <br>
been an integral component in Geoscience Australia’s Digital Earth <br>
Australia and Digital Earth Africa programs, and has been used all over <br>
the world by a range of institutions and individuals to make Earth <br>
observation data easier to access”, adds Alex Leith, the Open Data Cube <br>
Steering Council Chair.<br>

The Open Data Cube initiative is supported by six institutional <br>
partners: Geoscience Australia (GA), NASA / Committee on Earth <br>
Observation Satellite (CEOS), United States Geological Survey (USGS), <br>
Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), <br>
Catapult Satellite Applications, and Analytical Mechanics Associates <br>
(AMA).<br>
