He was one of the international scholars sponsored by CODATA and <a href="https://www.earthobservations.org/index.php" class="">GEO, the Group on Earth Observations</a> to attend the <a href="http://indico.ictp.it/event/7658/other-view?view=ictptimetable" class="">CODATA-RDA School of Research Data Science, hosted at ICTP, near Trieste, Italy</a> in August 2016. Shiva is an excellent, enthusiastic participant and had previously attended the <a href="http://www.codata.org/events/workshops/workshops-2015/training-workshop-on-big-data" class="">ISI CODATA International Training Workshop on Big Data held in Bangalore, March 2015</a> </div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">Shiva was inspired by the evening class at the Summer School, given by Gail Clement (@repositorian) of CalTech, to make digitised back issues of Banko Janakari (A journal of Forestry Information for Nepal) available via the Zenodo repository. Thanks to this connection having been made the digitised back issues of Banko Janakari will now be made available through <a href="http://www.nepjol.info/index.php/index/about" class="">NepJOL, Nepal Journals Online</a> which is part of the <a href="http://www.inasp.info/en/work/journals-online/" class="">JOL project</a>, supported by INASP.</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">The power of connections and joining things up… Connections are also important in the next story.</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class=""><b class="">Humans of Data...</b></div><div class="">This week, the <a href="http://www.dcc.ac.uk/events/idcc17" class="">12th International Digital Curation Conference</a> took place in Edinburgh, Scotland. To judge by the twitter stream it was a particularly good edition of this excellent event. The week has seen a flurry of new posts on #humansofdata, which started at International Data Week and looks set to continue in relation to a lot international research data meetings.
