Dear All,

I thought that this survey about research assessment, including the extent to which open science practices feature, would be of interest to CODATA International community. Incentives as part of research assessment is often noted as a barrier to wider adoption of data sharing.

At PLOS we are investigating how researchers serving on committees for hiring, promotion or tenure, or grant review assess a candidate's research outputs. To encourage the broadest possible participation among researchers, we'd be very grateful if members of the CODATA International community could take about 10 minutes to complete this survey https://survey.alchemer.com/s3/6854965/Assessing-Research-28 or share the survey with researchers who might be able to take part.

The survey seeks responses from researchers in Biology and Life Sciences who have served on a committee within the last two years. We would welcome you sharing the survey link with any researchers who may be interested. We hope to expand this research to other disciplines in the future.

This survey is based on qualitative research we conducted last year<https://osf.io/ryds4/> to better understand researchers' needs while assessing a candidate's research outputs. We are seeking to identify opportunities for better tools, methods, or advocacy to support assessment.

The survey is open now, and will be open through at least June 19. We hope you can share the survey link by June 15 with your members through email or social media.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Best wishes,

Iain
