[CODATA-international] Ethical dimensions of Digital Feudalism in Agriculture

Dear Colleagues,

thanks, re. precision-farming, and global food supply/nutrition,
weather data matters indeed, but so does fisheries.
It's often a fertilizer-input for farming, and a raw food commodity,
very vast and feeding many 'poor' and super rich people.
Many of the farming situations are not possible without fisheries whtsoever.

In case somebody has some citations on open access data, fisheries and food,
I would welcome those.
High-precision fisheries is a thing, e.g. tuna catching, EEZ areas, GPS
tracking, locating last fish grounds.
I just see ~no open access data shared there.

In the meantime.
I also wonder whether somebody can point to me towards some cases where
open access data
actually changed anything for the better/sustainability, and where they
were used with
WHO, WTO, The World Bank and others in their strategic planning and policy ?

In my view ,
already the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are in wide denial of
promoting and looking at data/facts
and use them for their heralded poverty and development goals etc.
In real life, I just do not see them used; just as the case with Climate
Change (=biggest science budgets, large data, some Open Access, none used
for betterment for decades).

Come from the other angle: Who in the upper decision-making level is really
fluent
on Open Access data, and how to use and employ them ?
The higher one comes up, the less good data and facts play a role;
that's reality and needs a change.

Thanks in advance for any references on Open Access Data and Fisheries and
the topic mentioned.
