Dear Colleagues:

An extraordinary article in today’s New York Times by Lisa Friedman,
outlines how a proposed U.S. E.P.A. policy “…would require that scientists
disclose all of their raw data, including confidential medical records,
before the agency could consider an academic study’s conclusions.”

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/11/11/climate/epa-science-trump.html

According to the Times, the change is opposed by most scientists –
including the American Association for the Advancement of Science. But it
appears to have the support of many industrial groups (eg. chemical
companies).

Could this be an example of science being challenged by dubiously-motivated
‘pro-open’ claims ?

Best wishes,

Thomas
