[CODATA-international] Looking for examples of competitors collaborating in data sharing?

Hi Kalpana,

The Big Data Value Association project, Transforming Transport (www.Transformingtransport.eu<http://www.Transformingtransport.eu>) is not only an example, but creative in its approach. Rather than asking competitors to put their data into a shared system, the team created a facility for shared, open data. Each company could then integrate the shared data, locally with their own data, and share results (without divulging their intellectual property). It’s an interesting and pragmatic approach for organizing natural rivals to collaborate for common purpose.

Hope that helps,
Christine

Subject: [CODATA-international] Looking for examples of competitors collaborating in data sharing?

Dear colleagues:

For a project I'm working on, I'm looking for examples of competitors (private or public sector) who collaborated to develop an infrastructure for data sharing and actually, well, shared data. Does anyone have any examples to point me to?

Thanks,

Kalpana
