We have been asked to circulate this announcement, which may be of interest
to members of the CODATA International Community

*Modern meteorology requires management and analysis of enormous amounts of
data, and offers great and exciting professional challenges. Since the
institute was established in 1866, the Norwegian meteorologists have played
a key role in this development. Norwegian Meteorological Institute is today
a leading international environment of expertise in operational meteorology
and climatology.*
*Research / Scientific Programmer Position at MET Norway*
Norwegian Meteorological Institute (MET Norway) has a vacant position as
Researcher / Scientific Programmer. The position is attached the Research
Division. It might be opened for an additional position.

MET Norway works with large amounts of data, be it collected observations,
satellite data, and data from ocean, weather and climate models. We are
looking for a skilled person that can help in developing the field of data
management. Distributed, meta data driven data management is a rapidly
developing field with considerable attention from both research and
operational services because the methodology increases the usefulness of
the data using standardized documentation and interfaces which allows for
comparison of data collected in various media and by various institutions.
You will work in an academic environment where the application of the data
is in focus. By being engaged in both utilization and management of the
data we believe the job will be more interesting for you and more relevant
for MET Norway.
